SCS presents several major events during the year including Veteran’s Day and Christmas shows. Students perform both musical and theatrical numbers. From Pre-K through 5th grades music is a part of the core curriculum.
Southcrest is proud to have long-time band director Rick Driscoll as a part of our faculty. 2009-2010 was Southcrest's first year to have a band and Mr. Driscoll and our kids have worked hard to honor the talent given by the Lord. In competition with over 60 other public and private school bands from the area, the Southcrest Warrior Band came home with two trophies: Best in Category and Sweepstakes. Mr. Driscoll is a firm believer in strong foundations and above all, teaching kids the joy of music and praising the Lord. Band is a manditory class for all 5th graders and is an elective for 6th-12th grade. Mr. Driscoll also teaches music to Kindergarten through 4th grade.
Southcrest offers art to all students in 2nd through 5th grades. Art is offered as an elective in 6th-10th grades. Mrs. Narvaeth routinely enters student artwork in competitions, including The Arts Festival and The Fair. Many students are awarded ribbons at both competitions.
